Product security

This page is the security information that GENICALC LTD publishes for the GeniCalc GC-1 as manufacturer, in line with the UK Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (Product Security) regime (PSTI Regulations 2023) and the EU Radio Equipment Directive cybersecurity requirements (Delegated Regulation 2022/30). It applies to every GC-1 we sell, in every country.

1. Reporting a security issue

If you believe you have found a vulnerability in the GeniCalc GC-1, its firmware, its companion services (AI Plus, connectivity) or genicalc.com, please tell us:

  • Email: contact@genicalc.com — put "Security report" in the subject line.
  • Include what you found, the firmware version (Settings → About), how to reproduce it, and how we can reach you.

What we will do:

  • Acknowledge your report within 5 working days.
  • Give you a status update at least every 30 days until the issue is resolved.
  • Tell you when a fix is released, and credit you if you would like us to.

We will not take legal action against anyone who reports in good faith, does not access or alter other people's data, and gives us reasonable time to fix the issue before publishing details.

2. Security update support period

We will provide security updates for the GeniCalc GC-1 for at least three (3) years from the date the last new unit of the GC-1 is sold by us, and in any event until at least 31 December 2029. If we extend this period we will update this page; we will never shorten it for units already sold.

Updates are delivered over the device's own connection (nano-SIM) or by USB, free of charge. The device shows a notice when an update is available; the calculator functions keep working while an update is pending.

3. Passwords and access

  • The GC-1 ships with no universal default password. On first use of any connected feature (camera upload, AI Plus, account) you set your own device passcode; the offline calculator functions do not require one.
  • The passcode cannot be reset to a factory value known to us; it can only be reset by the user, and doing so wipes any stored account data on the device.

4. Firmware and version information

The current firmware version is shown in Settings → About on the device. Release notes for each firmware version, including which security issues were fixed, are published at genicalc.com/pages/security (this page) from the first shipment onwards.

5. Statement of compliance

A PSTI statement of compliance for the GC-1 accompanies each unit shipped to the United Kingdom, and the EU declaration of conformity (Radio Equipment Directive, including the Article 3(3)(d), (e) and (f) cybersecurity requirements) is available on request from contact@genicalc.com.
