It isn't your phone.

GeniCalc connects through its own nano SIM, so it never borrows your phone's connection and there's nothing to pair. You supply the SIM and the data plan — push it in and it works, with nothing to set up and barely any data used.

The AI is a key you press when you want it — and it switches off entirely in the settings, which turns GeniCalc into a plain scientific calculator for as long as you leave it that way. Everything else works whether the AI is on or not, including after the subscription ends.

Five honest answers.

You're about to spend €179 on a device that photographs homework and talks to an AI. Here's what we'd want to know.

Will it just hand over the answers?
By default GeniCalc shows the method first and the result last, so the fastest way to use it is to read the steps. No connected device can make copying impossible — what GeniCalc does is make learning the path of least resistance.
Can it be taken into an exam?
Exam rules are set by each board and differ between countries, but most invigilated exams prohibit devices with a camera or a data connection — so plan on no. Checking the rules that apply is the candidate's responsibility.

AI mode switches off completely in the settings, leaving an ordinary 550-function scientific calculator. GeniCalc is built for the work before the exam — AI help on the homework a student is already doing, without a phone sitting on the desk next to them. It is not a cheating device and it is not sold as one.
What happens to the photographs?
They're sent to be read and deleted afterwards. We publish which AI provider processes them, how long anything is kept, and where. If the user is under the digital-consent age in your country, setup asks a parent to approve the account before the camera works at all.
Is there anything else I have to buy?
A nano SIM — the same size your phone takes. GeniCalc connects through its own rather than borrowing a phone, so you provide the data plan, but there is nothing to set up beyond pushing it into the tray. It uses around 50 MB a month even with heavy use, so the cheapest prepaid data SIM is enough. Without a SIM the calculator still does all 550 functions; only the camera and the AI need a connection.
What does it cost after the €179?
Six months of AI Plus are included, counted from the day the calculator is first switched on — not from the day you order. After that it's €24 a month or €216 a year (VAT included), cancellable whenever you like. The calculator itself — all 550 functions — keeps working forever, subscription or not.

Before you order.

When exactly does it ship?
Dispatch begins 1 November 2026. We'll email a firm date as soon as the first production run leaves the factory, and again when your unit is dispatched. If the date moves you'll hear it from us before you read it anywhere else — and you can cancel for a full refund at any point before dispatch.
Am I charged now or at dispatch?
In full at pre-order — that's what lets us commit to the production run. Your statutory right to cancel and be refunded runs until fourteen days after the device arrives, and our own policy adds cancellation for any reason before it ships.
Do I need a SIM card?
Yes — a nano SIM, the same size your phone takes. GeniCalc connects through its own rather than borrowing your phone's, so you supply the SIM and the data plan. There's nothing to configure: push it into the tray and it connects. It uses very little — a photographed problem is a few hundred kilobytes, so even heavy use comes to around 50 MB a month, and the cheapest prepaid data SIM covers it. Without one, the calculator still does all 550 functions offline; the camera and AI are what need the connection.
When do the six free months start?
The day you first switch the calculator on — not the day you order. Pre-ordering in August doesn't cost you months waiting for November. After the six months it's €24 a month or €216 a year including VAT, and we'll email you before anything is charged.
What happens if I stop paying for AI Plus?
The calculator carries on being a calculator. All 550 functions, the display, the memory — none of it depends on a subscription. What stops is camera solving and AI answers. Resubscribe whenever and it comes straight back.
Is it allowed in exams?
Your exam board decides that, and the rules vary by country and by board. Most invigilated exams prohibit devices with a camera or a data connection — so plan on no, and check the rules that apply to you. GeniCalc is designed for the work before the exam, not for the exam itself. AI mode can be switched off entirely in the settings if you want it to behave as a plain scientific calculator.
Can the AI be turned off?
Yes, completely, in the calculator's settings. With AI mode off it's an ordinary 550-function scientific calculator — no camera solving, no connection, nothing to disable at a school's request beyond a menu toggle. Useful for classrooms with device policies, and for anyone who wants the AI available at home but not at school.
Which countries do you ship to?
All EU countries except Germany for now (Germany opens shortly), plus the United Kingdom — from 1 November 2026, VAT for your delivery country included in the price you see, no delivery charge. The rest of the world follows soon after launch, country by country as approvals land; email contact@genicalc.com with your country and we'll tell you the moment it opens.
My child is thirteen. Can they use it?
Yes, with a parent-approved account. The digital consent age varies between thirteen and sixteen depending on the country, so setup checks and asks a parent to approve before the camera and AI features are enabled.
Can I replace the battery?
Yes, with an ordinary screwdriver. No glue, no special tools, no service centre. Replacement cells sold at cost.
